Crag Details

WAD Valley gets its names from three ice climbers who found the area (Wes, Andrew and Dave). A large amphitheatre sits in the back and had spent many years written off as a rock climbing location due to the poor rock quality. A fresh set of eyes and perspective found a new area to be unlocked.

After several years of dedicated work by the Northern Exposure crew from 2020-2023, an extensive climbing destination featuring two sectors with 86 routes has been finally opened up for the tail end of 2023.

Wad Valley is the largest sport climbing crag in Jasper by number of routes. The main sector has 52 routes with grades from 5.8 to 5.13a, and Prophecy Wall has 34 routes with grades from 5.8 to 5.13. The walls are generally steep to overhung and will test your endurance.
